If your hair is starting to show signs of damage from heat styling or color treatments, try this Hawaiian secret for super-shiny tresses:

Use a fork to mash one banana in a bowl, then slather the mixture from root to tip. Leave the treatment on for 15 minutes, then wash with shampoo. Bananas help improve the health and natural elasticity of your hair thanks to their high levels of potassium.

For dry and brittle hair regularly massage your hair with natural hair oil like coconut, olive and jojoba oil
Massage your scalp daily after taking a bath for good circulation to ensure that your hair is getting the nutrients it deserves thus preventing hair
Do not use curling and straitening irons too much – it can cause brittleness
Trim your hair every after 6 weeks to eradicate split ends
Wash your hair after you get a dip in the pool – chlorine can dry your hair and make it brittle, if possible wear a swimming cap
Brush your hair with brush that has natural tips rather than plastic ones, start removing tangles first then make a long stroke brushing from the tips to the ends ensuring that the hair oils is spread properly.

Softest, Silkiest Legs!

20130331-232641.jpg

With Summer being around the corner, we need to get ready for those soft and beautiful Legs! So, when I came across this selfmade Sugar Scrub I wanted to share it with you! I think the sugar scrubs in stores are far too expensive and really you don’t need much ingredients to do it yourself! Especially for this one. So here we go!

Olive Oil Sugar Scrub
-2 1/2 Cups of Sugar (Yes, just normal sugar)
-1 Cup of oil (I used Olive Oil and of course, I smell a little like Olive Oil. You can also use Canola, Vegetable, Avocado, Coconut or any fragranced body oil you have).
-5 Tablespoons of a citrus juice. Preferably fresh squeezed.

Bath Time:
-Draw you a warm/hot bath.
-Soak for about five minutes.
-Shave one leg.
-Take a palm full of your homemade sugar scrub and scrub that leg and then rinse off.
-Shave your leg again. Yes, again.
-Take a palm full of sugar scrub and scrub your leg again.
-Repeat on your other leg.
-After your bath, dry off and then lotion your legs.

When you shave your leg the first time, obviously, it’s going to remove the hair. When you scrub after you shave, it removes any dead skin. By shaving your leg again after you use the sugar scrub, you are getting all of that dead skin off of your leg. You will need to rinse your razor frequently (you will see why)

Spring Make up Trend – Bare Lashes!

Mascara-free lashes were a top trend on spring runways. Find out how to pull off this fresh look (even if you’re a mascara addict).

20130326-205111.jpg
Who’d have thought the hip new trend would be forgetting mascara?

Across the Fall 2013 shows, the no-mascara look was rocked with dramatic lips, smoky eyes, and no-makeup makeup. In fact, the biggest thing the Fall beauty shows had in common? No mascara.

20130326-205548.jpg
Most of us wouldn’t set foot outside our apartments without mascara. Especially me! In fact the number one desert island pick is the Mascara. But the runways are ditching the wand for a more undone, modern look.

20130326-205624.jpg
At the Todd Lynn Fall 2013 show, MAC Director of Makeup Artistry Terry Barber explained, “This show is all about gender blending, that’s the new gender bending; the boys and girls have the same look,’ said Terry. ‘No mascara is less ‘try hard,’ it goes against glamour.”

Maybelline artist Charlotte Willer said, “Black—or any other color—can overpower the look. The face looks more pure this way, less doll-like. You notice other things.”

20130326-222646.jpg
Second, going mascara-free doesn’t mean that you need to leave the rest of your face au naturel. On the contrary, the right makeup is essential to doing the no-mascara look beautifully (as opposed to just looking like you forgot your mascara).

“Skin is the key factor to this look,” says makeup artist Charlotte Willer for Maybelline New York. Without mascara to hide behind, your skin has to be (or at least appear) perfect. “I suggest creating dewy skin and covering up dark circles with concealer.”

20130326-222942.jpg
Luckily, there are a few tricks you can use to keep yourself from looking totally lash-less.

1.Curl your lashes and set with clear mascara (or brow gel). While lashes are still slightly damp, curl again for maximum hold (just be careful not to crimp).

2.Try a brown mascara for did-she-or-didn’t-she lashes. We love Benefit BadGal Brown for a fluttery, natural look. Like Terry Barber said, “Brown is back, it’s chic, and very 90s. Conservative make-up is being reinvented as cool.”

3. Smudge liner into lash roots with an angled brow brush, or space tiny dots between the lashes with one of the three-pronged liners that were crazy-popular last year.

Last, don’t forget about your lips. A bold lip paired with naked lashes can make your face feel less bare – and it also happens to look gorgeous and modern.

Well, some of us never thought of our lives without mascara wands entirely… That said, we’re going to try it this weekend. Maybe this is what modernity feels like?

9 Natural Beauty Tips!

9 Natural Beauty Tips!

20130317-230230.jpg
It’s always nice to learn about natural beauty tips because they’re easy to use and so much better for us than using commercial beauty products with unknown ingredients and chemicals. Even if we don’t always use natural beauty products in our beauty routine, we can treat our skin to some natural beauty tips that will nourish and nurture your skin!

1. ALOE AND COCONUT OIL FOR DRY SKIN

Natural beauty tips are not only good for us, they’re pretty easy on our wallets, also! Take this beauty tip for example: using aloe vera and coconut oil to soothe dry skin is cost effective, super easy and all-natural! If you experience dry skin, try mixing or blending the gel from an aloe vera leaf with a couple tablespoons of coconut oil and apply it to your skin!

2. OATMEAL FACE WASH

If you want to be a natural beauty, try using this simple and soothing face wash that’s appropriate for just about all skin types! Grab some uncooked oatmeal, mix about a handful of oatmeal with some warm water and use it to wash your face. It might be a little awkward to use but oatmeal has wonderful benefits for skin, such as reducing redness, protecting skin from UV damage and calming dry, itchy skin.

3. KIWI EXFOLIATOR

This next beauty tip is about as natural as they get! Take a kiwi and mash it up to use it as an easy and effective facial exfoliator. If you don’t have any kiwis around, you can also use a banana, pineapple, peach or papaya to mash up and mix with a couple tablespoons of yogurt. This exfoliator is best suited for normal skin but make sure you don’t have any allergies to the ingredients as well!

4. ALOE MAKEUP SETTING SPRAY

Another way to show your natural beauty is to use an all-natural setting spray for your makeup. All you need is some filtered water and some glycerin or aloe vera juice! Grab a small spray bottle that sprays a fine mist and mix three parts of the filtered water to one part of the aloe vera juice or glycerin. Give yourself a couple of spritzes after you apply makeup and you’re set! Be sure to keep it in the fridge so it keeps longer!

5. COCONUT OIL HEAT PROTECTANT

If you have some unruly hairs like me, you’ll love this simple and cheap beauty tip! Use a small dab of coconut oil to tame broken hairs, add sheen to your hair and use it as a heat protectant. It has been noted that the women of Fiji often used coconut oil to protect their hair from damaging UV rays and many women also use it to create a protective barrier from heat tools and your hair! Make sure your heat tool isn’t turned up too high when you use this as a heat protectant!

6. LEMON WATER SKIN DRINK

I’ve always liked to have a little lemon with my water because I love how fresh it tastes. Little did I know that adding lemon juice to your water has great skin benefits! Add some lemon juice to warm water to give your body a powerful boost of vitamin C, which will help purge toxins and also help keep your skin clear of blemishes!

7. OLIVE OIL AND HONEY HAIR MASK

I know there are tons of homemade hair mask recipes out there, but this one has got to be one of the easiest and you’ll likely always have the ingredients on hand when you need it! Mix a tablespoon of honey with three tablespoons of olive oil in a small, microwaveable bowl. Stick it in the microwave in thirty second increments until it’s all warmed and apply it to your hair for a half hour, rinse and shampoo!

8. ORANGE EXFOLIATOR

This next natural beauty tip is a great way to prep our limbs for the upcoming season! Cut an orange in half and use it to rub on your elbows and knees to exfoliate dry, dead skin cells and smooth your skin! The acid in the orange will not only get rid of dead skin but it’ll also help lighten up dark elbows and knees, so you’ll be ready to rock those shorts and tanks in no time!

9. A CARROT A DAY KEEPS BLEMISHES AWAY

This last tip on natural beauty might sound quite weird. In fact, I’d never heard of this little tip before, but after some research it turns out that eating carrots is a dynamite food for skin! Eating carrots gives your body a big dose of vitamin A, beta-carotene and antioxidants that help with anti-aging and help prevent acne!

I hope you use some of the natural beauty tips and enjoy the wonderful benefits of using natural skin care products that you can make yourself! All of these natural beauty tips can be used anytime you want to swap out some of the traditional beauty products and just take it back to the basics! Do you make any of your own natural beauty products?

YSL – Best Nude Lipstick!

20130306-142139.jpg
Well I found my perfect nude lipstick from YSL “Sweet Honey”!
But To find the perfect nude lipstick for yourself is not the easiest at all, because when you end up putting it on your lips it can look totally different then you thought! So, I have put some tips and advice from beauty specialist together for you!
First of all, a nude lip color is the perfect companion for heavy eye makeup or just a simple all-around “I’m naturally this good looking” understated look. But “nude” is totally dependent on an individual’s skin tone and not everyone can wear a light creme beige as their nude.
To achieve that perfect natural glow, the right lipstick is a must for balancing your skin tone and avoiding the too pale or tired effect. Here is a list of nude shades depending on the color of your skin!
Bobbi Brown (abbreviated below as BB) is a great line to start with when looking for your perfect nude. Many of Bobbi’s looks are based on “natural” pretty makeup so many nudes across the color spectrum are included in the line.

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Canotier
“This is a great neutral brown with a natural, smooth matte finish. The color is just right—not too pale, and good for day or night, especially those times when you’re rocking a dramatic eye. Your lips won’t steal the show, but they definitely won’t be overlooked.” — Jeannia Robinette

Dior Rouge Dior Lip Color in Angelique Beige
“The shade has a warmth to it, which makes it ideal for all skin tones. And its sheerness gives you a soft, elegant, beautiful, subtle look. For an application tip, scrub lips before applying lipstick to create a smooth surface.” — Carola Gonzalez

20130310-202541.jpg
Tom Ford Lip Color in Sable Smoke
“This shade has the perfect amount and tone of beige for a nude lip that won’t wash you out. I like to apply the color with a brush then tap with my index finger to blend into the skin so that it doesn’t have a heavy ‘lipstick’ quality.” — Stevie Huynh

20130310-202849.jpg
Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté lipstick in Nude Beige
“Think of nude lipstick the same way you’d think about your foundation. To get the right color, consider your skin color, hair color, even eye color. For someone with a fairer complexion, a nude that’s too beige-y will appear yellow; instead, pick a nude that’s in the pale pink family like this YSL shade. For medium tones, I would use a deeper beige to rose nude. If you want the truest shade of the lipstick to shine through, neutralize your own lip color first by applying a tinted moisturizer or foundation.” — Jeanine Lobell

20130310-210932.jpg
NARS Sheer Lipstick in Cruising
“This works for all complexions because it’s very close to the natural flesh tone of lips. The formulation is bold, so it mutes naturally vibrant lips amazingly well, and for women with thin lips, the pinky tone makes lips look twice as full. Applying a shimmery sheer gloss on the center of lips also helps achieve that effect. For a matte look, I layer a neutral lip liner under the lipstick and dust on translucent powder for long wear. This trick will lock lips on all night. Layers are key!” — Ashunta Sheriff

Tom Ford Lip Color in Blush Nude
“For a pink-nude, this is my go-to. It’s a beautiful flattering pale pink. It can be applied straight from the tube or with your finger for a softer look.” — Fiona Stiles

NARS Satin Lipstick in Honolulu Honey
“It has the perfect balance of no-color and color. It has enough red undertones to offer something more than just plain cover up on the lips but still looks colorless. Just make sure you add a pop of color somewhere else on your face—with either a pretty cheek blush or purple smoky eye. — Stephen Sollitto

20130310-222740.jpg
Dior Rouge Dior Lip Color in Beige Indecise
“I find the brown undertone makes this color work for almost everyone. On paler skin, it creates a very natural looking lip and on darker skin, it gives you a sexy pout, particularly when combined with a strong eye. It has a beautiful depth to it so it doesn’t wash out the face. I like to apply lipstick with a brush—you get more control so you can apply the color into the corners of the lip cleanly and precisely.” — Georgie Eisdell

Natural Coffee Body Scub

20130304-004648.jpg

The coffee we all love so much has many uses beyond just waking us up in the morning. One of those uses is to create a natural coffee body scrub! If you are a coffee addict like me, then this recipe is a must, if you don’t like drinking coffee, then start using your coffee in the shower! Read further for its wonders!

RECIPE for one use: Basic Coffee Scrub
3 TBL coffee grounds; used. Dry them out and use in scrub, or use freshly brewed.
1 TBL natural oil of your choice: like olive oil, grapeseed, coconut (melted), almond etc.. Don’t use any petroleum based oil as this will clog pores! Olive has a heavier feel, is naturally hypoallergenic and is full of vitamin A and E , helps repair skin….grapeseed oil is lighter in feel, silky, not oily, and penetrates the skin quickly. It is cheaper than olive oil and is easily found in the grocery store with the other oils. This is a great choice for scrubs as it has almost no scent and is good for sensitive skin. Great for cooking too.
1 TBL sugar: white or brown or a mixture of both.
Mix all dry ingredients, then add oil (s). Oil amount is your preference based on how much coffee grounds you are using. Make this in single use amounts, or make a larger batch and store in fridge if you used wet grounds. It will last 7 – 10 days in the fridge! Final scrub consistency is your perogative, some like more oil than others, some like it dryer. Experiment. Theres no wrong or right.

A dash of cinnamon – Adding cinnamon will give your scrub a stronger, sharper scent.
How to use:
Apply this in the shower, it will be slippery, or sitting on tub side. Take a palm full of scrub and apply in a circular motion, paying attention to cellulite areas, small varicose vein areas, and dry skin areas.

Frequency:
1. Not more than 3 times a week on alternate days – as your skin needs time to rejuvenate from the vigorous exfoliation and over use can cause open pores causing body acne.

Caution:
1. Try to use warm or room temperature water while bathing; hot water is likely to cease the effect of this batter as it dries the skin quickly.
2. Pat-dry yourself after your bath and avoid rubbing the towel to avoid rashes as this may leave your skin temporarily sensitised.

Not only does this recipe help relax tense muscles after a long day, the results will be visible after the first wash itself and over a period of just 2 to 3 weeks time you will see evidently healthier skin and lesser stretch marks and cellulite dimples!

20130304-010135.jpg
Why to use especially Coffee Scrub?
No more cellulite! While coffee is wonderful for many reasons, it is actually the caffeine it contains that provides the added health benefits as a scrub. When coffee is applied to the surface of your skin, it helps redistribute fat cells and decrease the formation of cellulite.
Problems with varicose veins. Many people accept varicose veins as a necessary evil–either as a sign of getting older or a predisposition inherited from Mom or Dad. With your new coffee body scrub skin care routine, you may be able to prevent varicose veins–or even make them vanish! The caffeine in a coffee scrub acts as a vascular restrictor, shrinking blood vessels and reducing varicose veins.
